Fighting for the World's Best Place to Raise a Family

I was lucky to grow up swimming in Lake Sammamish, playing in our unrivaled parks, and attending the area's world class schools. This community, our values, and the experience of growing up in the Pacific Northwest are fundamental to the woman I am today.

After graduating from Interlake High School, I went to Washington, D.C. for college, law school, and to pursue a career in government service. After more than a decade serving as an attorney and diplomat for the US Department of State and Brookings Institution Fellow in the U.S. Senate, my husband and I decided to move to Sammamish to start our family.

I have travelled throughout the country and nearly every corner of the world, but never found a better place than Washington State to raise a family. Today, with our four-year old daughter Noor, and a baby boy on the way, we could not be happier to call Sammamish home.

I want to ensure Sammamish continues to be the best place in the world to raise a family, even as we confront the challenges and opportunities that flow from our region's incredible growth. I’ve seen the right way and not so right way to create policy, and want to bring what I’ve learned to the Sammamish City Council.
